Abstract
The American Indian Collaborative of Portland proposes to develop a multi-agency planning and governing arrangement that is able to design and implement a program to meet the mental health and substance abuse treatment needs of the students at the Chemawa Indian Boarding School. The project will reach out to the tribes and families who refer their children to the school. The students at Chemawa have a remarkable change in student profile. Off-reservation boarding schools are seen as placement programs for students at high risk because of increased alcohol and drug use, unsafe sexual contact and violence. |
