Abstract

This project is to expand the delivery of comprehensive on-reservation, culturally competent intensive and in-home treatment, outpatient detoxification services, drop-in center, crisis, and intervention services.

Objectives
The overall purpose of this Targeted Capacity Expansion project is to create a sustainable substance abuse treatment infrastructure for the Passamaquoddy Tribal community. Education, outreach, and implementation of a continuum of services and chemical dependency treatment components are the goals that will further the overall purpose.

Key Components
Service Providers: The Tribal Health Center is the umbrella for all interagency service teams, including this TCE project.

Services Provided: The project will provide culturally based outpatient treatment, support circles, group meetings, in-home services, education and outreach.

Evaluation Design
Evaluation will measure both process and outcomes variables. The evaluation team from the University of Maine will assess client progress every six months, based on data collected on an ongoing basis throughout the project.

Evaluation Goals/Desired Results? The overall goal of the evaluation effort is to determine the degree to which the project achieves its stated clinical and programmatic goals.

Instruments and Data Management? The Indian Health Service Client Tracking System, in the context of the Chemical Dependency Management Information System will be the foundation of the evaluation data management system. Data from 10 standardized assessment instruments will be collected and analyzed.
