American Indian Health: A National Library Of Medicine Website
The National Library of Medicine, a part of the National Institutes of Health, hosts a Website to address the health concerns of the 4 million Americans who claim American Indian or Alaska Native Ancestry.
The site, "American Indian Health," is at http://americanindianhealth.nlm.nih.gov/
American Indian Health brings together pertinent health and medical resources, including consumer health information, the results of research, traditional healing resources, and links to other Web sites. Much of the information has been assembled from other National Library of Medicine resources such as PubMed and MedlinePlus.
Because special populations have different health needs, the Library created several specialized sites, for example, for Asian Americans, those living in the Arctic and far north, senior citizens, and Spanish-speaking Americans. These are all available from http://www.nlm.nih.gov/databases.

Substance Abuse
Addiction Technology Transfer Network
One Sky Center works closely with the ATTC and Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT) networks:
The Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network is dedicated to identifying and advancing opportunities for improving addiction treatment. The Network is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to upgrade the skills of existing practitioners and other health professionals and to disseminate the latest science to the treatment community. At the regional level, individual Centers focus primarily on meeting the unique needs in their areas while also supporting national initiatives. The National Office leads the Network in implementing national initiatives and concurrently supports and promotes individual regional efforts.
National CAPT Network
The National CAPT Network consists of five regional CAPTs, all funded by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) and dedicated to bringing substance abuse prevention research to practice. Each CAPT serves primarily the states within its own region, with special priority on those states receiving a State Incentive Grant (SIG). The process of transferring proven research to daily application involves taking knowledge and packaging it into practical, user-friendly formats, and facilitating its adoption in the field.
